"And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

Colossians 3:17

A review of LaJoia Walker’s life to date provides evidence she has been divinely destined and lovingly shaped to do well what God has created her to do.  A highly skilled and awarded engineering consultant for one of the largest chemical companies in the world, LaJoia is also a classically trained vocalist and lifelong Christian.

Given a diagnosis at birth that she would not live past 24 hours, LaJoia not only proved the doctors wrong, but this energetic, purposeful woman of God has added value in every environment she has been placed.  She was raised in a home with devout parents, constant prayer and Gospel music by choice.  If all of that wasn’t enough to cultivate LaJoia’s relationship with the Lord, a series of God-intervened incidents as a child and as an adult caused her to know increasingly who He is and who she is in Him.

It would be at the insistence of a family friend that her parents found out that LaJoia could sing “like that.”  Her voice has been aptly described as sounding like a “cool breeze across the meadow.”  She has sung like that over the years in the choir of the church where her dad pastors and in choirs from middle school to college.  For three years, she was a member of the Texas All-State Choir, the highest honor a Texas music student can achieve.  However, it did not become clear to LaJoia that the Lord wanted to use her voice to deliver His messages until recently.

LaJoia knows firsthand “the Lord does not want to keep His messages from us; He wants us to know His plans, so we will excel in everything we do.”  Her love for God and music has sparked a personal adventure to launch a YouTube channel to include Christian/Gospel song covers and The Joie Journey Blog to encourage others about personal development, career growth, financial planning and Christian living.  A change agent and mentor at heart and in practice, LaJoia is eager to share what she has learned (and hears) from her walk with the Lord.
